An interactive meeting on cooperation between Cuba and India in the biopharmaceutical industry was held in the city of Hyderabad, capital of the Indian state of Telangana, on March 17. The meeting was organized by the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India, Pharmexcil, and was attended by some twenty companies of the sector based in this city, which presented the different opportunities that exist for the development of trade and economic relations, and in particular for the development of long-term cooperation to complement and enhance the capacity that both countries have in the biopharmaceutical sector.
Uday Bhaskar, general director of Pharmexcil, who inaugurated the meeting, expressed the interest of the different Indian institutions of the sector in strengthening relations with Cuba and the objective of preparing a business mission to attend the Biohabana 2022 event, to be held in the Cuban capital at the end of April.
On the Cuban delegation, Ambassador Alejandro Simancas Marín, who spoke about the development of the biotechnology sector in Cuba and its association with the national health system, was present. He also presented the main products developed in our country in this field and the positive results achieved in the fight against COVID-19, especially through the national vaccination campaign.Hyderabad is one of the main industrial centers in India, specialized in high technology.
