The 15th edition of the China-Latin America and Caribbean Summit, China-LAC, was inaugurated this morning in Guayaquil, Ecuador, with the presence of the President of that country, Guillermo Lasso.

The President of China, Xi Jinping, sent a virtual message. On the Ecuadorian side, Juan Carlos Holguín, Foreign Minister of the Republic, and Julio José Prado, Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries, also spoke, as did the President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Ren Hongbin.

During the conference, Milena Pérez Cepero, Director of Events of the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba, greeted the participants of the Round Table “New opportunities for China-LAC economic and trade cooperation and new missions of the Chambers of Commerce under the new Development Configuration”.

Pérez Cepero held exchanges, indistinctly, with Dr. Gustavo Cáceres, President of the Ecuador-China Chamber of Commerce, and with Ana María Gallardo, Vice Minister of Export and Investment Promotion of Ecuador, who thanked Cuba for its presence at the Summit and expressed her support to bring closer and strengthen the business community of both countries.

The space was propitious for the signing of a Joint Action Plan for 2023, signed by H.E. Mr. Basilio Antonio Gutiérrez, Ambassador of Cuba in that country, on behalf of the President of the Chamber Antonio Carricarte Corona, and by Ren Hongbin, President of CCPIT.

Tomorrow, the Summit activities will continue and are expected to conclude in the afternoon.
