Agricultural Cluster advocates for more efficient export processes in the sector

Chaired by Rubén Ramos Arrieta, vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba (CC), the second meeting of the Agricultural Cluster was held this Tuesday at the headquarters of this institution to follow up on the agreements of the General Assembly of Associates and in correspondence with the Business Development Strategy.

The meeting, which was attended by Ivón Garzón, deputy director of exports of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, became an appropriate space to discuss the limitations that still hinder the export of leading products to established markets, as well as the diversification of these processes. Yuniel Borrego, Export Director of the company Cítricos Caribe, presented the Arimao Mango Business Project and highlighted the support of the CC and the governing bodies of foreign trade activity in the country.

In a second moment, Alejandro Valdés, director of the company Cítricos Ceiba, presented the export strategy of the Habanero Chile and gave a brief overview of the avocado for export.

Together with the Directorate of Associates, the entrepreneurs agreed on a joint Action Plan that will guide the work of the Cluster in the coming year and called for participation in FIAGROP, a fair to be held in Cuba next March.

During the meeting, CC specialists also called on participants to take part in ExpoAladi, an event that will be held in Cuba from 2 to 4 October 2023, and offered a brief explanation of the Pymes Latinas Grandes Negocios platform, through which the macro business roundtable of the business event will take place.

Rubén Ramos urged those present to work together to solve the problems that have been identified, highlighted the drive and the high commitment of the companies in the sector to move towards higher levels of efficiency and optimise the processes of production chaining and export of products in terms of economic development of the country.

The meeting was also attended by Juan Carlos Loyola, head of Projects of the National Association of Small Farmers; Loreta García, vice-president of the Agri-Food Section of the CC; representatives of companies in the sector and invited entities.
