The associates of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, both in person and through internet, held their General Assembly last May 20 to analyze what has happened from 2019 to date, as the meeting corresponding to 2020 was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz; Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz and Ana Teresita González, Minister and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, respectively, and Antonio Carricarte Corona, President of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba.
The work meeting began with the presentation, by president Carricarte, of the report summarizing the work of the Chamber of Commerce for over a year, which reflects the Chamber´s actions aimed at providing better and differentiated assistance to the associates, to respond to the call made by the country´s leadership: to increase exports and attract foreign investment.
An essential moment of the Assembly was when the associates presented their main interests before the guild, their work experiences with the Chamber of Commerce, as well as their expectations for the future. Aspects that should be addressed and/or conducted in the Chamber’s actions were analyzed and discussed in order to help overcome challenges, eliminate internal and external barriers, seek new opportunities, build bridges, promote alliances and, above all, turn each goal into an action and each action into the expected result.
The addresses were focused on topics such as: improving the work of the business intelligence areas of the companies; establishing national alliances to access target markets with greater strengths; gaining presence in social networks, as well as other tools that allow greater international visibility; making viable the search for solutions to domestic hurdles that make it difficult to obtain a competitive good or service for the selected markets; as well as strengthening alliances with the different actors of the non-state sector.
The exchange was fruitful and work is already underway on support programs to increase exports.
Once again, the work carried out by the Chamber with its associates was demonstrated, as it reads in its corporate purpose: Our Mission is your Company.
